How to Turn The Last 3 Months of 2024 into Your Highest Revenue through LinkedIn

linkedin linkedin tips Sep 12, 2024

Every so often, there comes a time in a social media platform’s life when huge changes to the platform open the floodgates for a new wave of creators to be born.

Let me give you a breakdown of some of these top platform moments you may recall:

➡️ YouTube Partnership Program (2007): YouTube’s introduction of its Partnership Program enabled creators to monetize their content, leading to the rise of influencers and full-time YouTubers like Jenna Marbles to build large audiences and earn substantial income through ad revenue, solidifying YouTube as a career-launching platform. 🎥

➡️ Vine’s 6-Second Video Format (2013): Vine’s unique 6-second video format caught fire by promoting highly creative, bite-sized content that went viral quickly. Creators like Logan Paul became household names and later migrated their audiences to platforms like YouTube and Instagram after Vine’s shutdown.🎬

➡️ TikTok’s “For You” Algorithm (2018-2020): TikTok’s highly responsive and personalized “For You” page algorithm democratized virality, allowing everyday users to become overnight sensations. Creators like Charli D’Amelio and Addison Rae skyrocketed in popularity due to the platform’s ability to surface trending content to vast audiences, regardless of follower count. 🎯

Well, my friend, one of those critical moments is underway RIGHT now for LinkedIn.

Over the summer, as everyone was off holidaying and clocking out on summer Fridays, LinkedIn’s team quietly rolled out some new features that will usher in the next generation of “Business Influencers.”

And if that term makes you cringe, just think of it more aptly like this:

💡 There is a world of corporate professionals and consultants that, if they triple down on these updates and go all in, stand to benefit tremendously from:
  • Corporate sponsorships (think Intuit sponsoring your posts)
  • Creating digital products
  • Upping their price points because of their in-demand nature on the platform
  • A surge of speaking and corporate workshop requests

So, if you’ve been “dabbling” on LinkedIn or patiently waiting to leap from being a consultant (bound by hours in the day and answering to needy clients and project deadlines) to a creator with passive revenue, it is time to pay attention.

Here are just a few things you need to capitalize on as we enter this new “Space Race” of LinkedIn.

1. Video

LinkedIn tried their hand with “stories” a few years ago, but otherwise, its algorithm has made no meaningful attempt to showcase short-form videos. This comes at a substantial potential cost for them, as YouTube and TikTok have become “de facto” places for people to learn a new skill. Here’s what it looks like:

Horizontally:

Vertically:

2. A whole suite of profile enhancements

We’re talking about custom buttons that accompany your name, a new services section that attracts leads like a magnet, and an ability to showcase client reviews. In other words, LinkedIn fully realizes the “freelance” economy is here, and the creator economy is fast on the rise. Because of those economies, the platform is now offering more tools than ever to help YOU earn your piece of the pie with their user base of over 1 billion.

3. Big brands can now sponsor your newsletter

Here are some interesting stats to ponder. There are ~184,000 newsletters on LinkedIn. Sound like a big number? It’s not when you consider LinkedIn has 1 billion users. So, if you have a newsletter on the platform, you are part of the .02% of people who publish one. This is a big miss for the remaining 99.9998% of people who don’t have one considering that LinkedIn’s seen engagement with newsletters rise by 47%. (Source: SocialMediaToday.com)

But what’s even better? LinkedIn is now letting big companies (like Microsoft) connect with newsletter owners to sponsor their articles. While this is still in the testing phase, it means that if you have an engaged newsletter on the platform, a potential source of revenue for your content is in the works. (Personally, I’m already working on my pitch to brands to sponsor my LinkedIn newsletter of 50k+ subscribers).

The best news? These updates are the tip of the iceberg I’m affectionately referring to as “LinkedIn’s Creator Revolution.”

I’ve seen some things a-brewin’ behind the scenes that are even more exciting, and I know that finally, people like yourself who have so much knowledge and passion in specific industries are about to be compensated BIG TIME for being the thought leaders they are.

I’m going deep into some of these platform updates on September 19th at 1 pm ET to break down how you can begin to make use of these game-changing updates to make 2025 the year you either leap from corporate to becoming a full-time thought leader creator or shift your consulting business to more of a passive-income driven creator channel. And don’t feel like you need to be highly active already on LinkedIn to make this work for you. Newbies to the platform have just as much opportunity to explode as we “veterans” do, and I love that for all of us.
